Afl Draft Points

Afl medias callum twomey is reporting that the afl will make the first round of the draft and potentially the second round protected from matching bids.

Afl draft points. Before last years draft the league created a draft value index which gave a points value to every possible selection. Basically every draft pick from 1 73 has been allocated a numerical value or number of points pick one is worth 3000 points and pick 73 is worth nine. Picks placed below that have no value. For the first time clubs will be able to make and match bids on academy and father son prospects during the draft after the afl established its new points based system. For the first time the afl draft featured live trading of picks and was held over two days with the first round held on the evening of thursday 22 november and the remainder of the draft being held on. This will see the draft order change throughout the night as clubs matching bids will move up to the selection where the bid was placed. Picks from 74 onwards are worth nothing.
